Fresh homemade pizza is a fun dish to make with the kids and a great food to get fussy eaters to try new tastes and seasonal produce! This is a fail save recipe that once made can also be frozen by the slice for a quick snack.
Ingredients
For the Pizza Base (makes 2 pizzas):
300gstrong plain lour
200mlwater
1tspfast action dried yeast
1tspsugar
½tspsalt
1tbspolive oil
herbs- dried mixed herbs or freshly chopped basil
For the topping:
fresh chopped tomatoes or tomato puree or tomato ketchup!
Grated cheddar cheese or mozzarella slices
seasonal vegetables or meats- peppers, mushrooms, asparagus, pineapple, sausage, thin sliced ham, chicken.. Whatever you fancy!
Instructions
Pizza Base: Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and kneed until you have a smooth dough (add a little more flour if the dough is too sticky). Cover the bowl with cling film and allow to prove for approx 30 minutes (if you have a bread maker, use the dough setting)
Divide the dough into 2 pieces, or 4 pieces if you want smaller pizzas, and pat out into rounds – place on greased baking sheets
Topping: Chop up fresh tomatoes or simply spread tomato puree or tomato ketchup over the pizza bases, sprinkle with herbs.
Top with cheese and get your children to decorate with whatever toppings they have chosen to eat!
Bake in a preheated oven 200’C/Gas mark 6 for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
