About Canalside
We are a family run farm that has been growing its own produce for the past 40 years.
It was back in 1983 that we bought this small holding in Great Haywood and planted our first strawberries that spring. From the beginning we have provided soft summer fruits, kitchen vegetables and garden plants directly to businesses across the region, and also to the local community from our Farm Shop – one of Staffordshire’s first!
We have continued to grow and develop our offering to customers over the years, and have since: extended our Farm Shop (twice!); built a new Café alongside the historic Trent and Mersey Canal; developed our Pick Your Own experience to include Halloween pumpkins; established a seasonal Plant Centre in our main glasshouse; and created a programme of inspirational, educational events for all the family to enjoy.
We think we have created something special at Canalside, but don’t take our word for it, come and see for yourself!

Part Time Baker
Part Time Role - 3 or 4 days per week, normal working day 7am - 3pm. One day would be a weekend day.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our well established Bakery Team within our Farm Shop.
The Bakery is an integral part of our Farm Shop & provides high quality products, a full range of breads, sweet treats made fresh daily, from scratch, as well as supplying product when required to the Café & Delicatessen.
Our Bakery makes all of our cakes, doughnuts, belgian buns range of sweet treats that you see in our Farm Shop, fresh every single day of the week. As well as our breads, sourdoughs, pizzas & focaccias. We are looking for someone with a flair in particular for the confectionary side to join our team.
Our Bakery is not a ‘serve over’ proposition, however our Bakers will be required to engage with our customers and at all times be professional, knowledgeable and friendly to ensure the high level of customer service standards we demand are met – our Bakers must also adhere to our strict food safety standards.
The Baker is to adhere to the high standards required in terms of presentation, engaging with customers, product knowledge, and food safety.
