Ashley (Head Butcher)

Ashley has been practicing his craft since the age of 18. His passion for the job and pride in providing quality meat across his counter is second to none.


With over 30 years of Butchery experience, Norman’s knowledge is second to none. He is always ready to share his meal ideas and has a pretty quick wit too!


Tom is our youngest Butcher and has been with us for 4 years. Amongst other skills, he is our chief sausage maker and has produced over 30 varieties!


Richard joined us last year and provides a valuable helping hand. His speciality is our ‘Kitchen Ready Collection’ due to his attention to detail!

Our family of highly qualified butchers are available daily to give you recommendations for every meal!

Quality Local Producers:

  • FREE RANGE: Packington Free Range in Barton-under-Needwood supplies us with their Pork, Chicken and Cockerels. All animals are reared to the highest of welfare standards and believe like us, that what’s good for the animals and the land, will be good for our customers

  • RARE BREEDS: Shugborough Estate is one of just 20 rare breed parks in the UK, whose animals are part of the estates conservation grazing programme. They supply us (sometimes exclusively) with Lamb, Long Horned Beef and Gloucester Old Spot Pork. These old breeds fell from popularity because they were slow growing, however today are recognised as producing some of the finest meats in the country

  • SEASONAL: We stock award winning Free Range Geese from Bretby near Burton-on Trent at Christmas; Lamb from the Shugborough Estate during Spring; and fresh Staffordshire Game over Autumn

Head Butcher Ashley hangs our beef for 28 days and lamb for 7 days to maximise its maturity, tenderness and flavour


Our Butchers make their own delicious range of products and also supply our Cafe with their finest cuts

Kitchen Ready Collection

Home Cooking Made Easy!

Our new ‘Kitchen Ready Collection’ offers a selection of tasty, seasonal dishes which are freshly prepared by our butchers for you to take home, pop into the oven and be ready to eat in less than 30 minutes!

The Collection includes Black Bean Stir Fry using locally reared beef, mustard & herb Packington free range Pork, and Hunters Chicken.  Remember to ask our butchers what’s on their menu this week!

Quality BBQ Meats

We use the best cuts of meat for our steaks, kebabs and  burgers ready to ‘throw on your barbie’ when the sun comes out! Gluten free options also available.

Dry Cured Bacon

Our Dry Cured Bacon is a favourite with Customers who love their bacon butties and English Breakfasts! You can taste the care taken in every slice.

Hand made Sausages

We make our own tasty sausages with free range Packington pork and have up to 15 seasonal flavours to choose from every week.

Deli Favourites

We use Packington Free Range Pork to make a fresh selection of Pork Pies, Sausage Rolls and Faggots, which you can find daily on our Deli Counter.
